This blank is 3/4 inch square and 5 inches long. Price is per blank. One blank and a close-up picture of the end of the blank is shown in the main photograph.
This extruded polyester blank has a solid purple background with thin white whisps running along the background.
Because these are polyester blanks, they turn quite a bit differently from our other blanks. They are more brittle and more likely to chip and chatter. We've found that keeping your tool under the blanks centerline while using a gouge style approach (especially with carbide insert cutters) will help keep the chipping and chattering down. You may find a better technique that works with your style of turning and tooling though.
Video of a turned sample:
This sample was turned from a 3/4" x 5" piece of Sugarplum polyester. It was turned to approximately 5/8" diameter. The turned sample is solid, it does not have a hole drilled in it, nor a tube. So its appearance in a finished pen may be quite different depending on transparency.
