Price is per blank. The blanks shown are representative of the blank you will receive but are not necessarily the exact blank you will receive.
Honeycomb blanks measure 13/16"+ x 5"+. The Aluminum Honeycomb blanks tend to chip a little easier than normal if you turn too aggressive because of the honeycomb inside of the Alumilite. The vendor soaks the honeycomb in acetone so it will bind to the Alumilite better, but he recommends you turn these blanks at a higher speed than normal and says it is best to take small cuts.
The vendor lives here in Colorado Springs and is immensely proud that his blanks will say “Made in the USA.”
As you stare into the depths of this blank, you feel like you are looking at the bottom of a pool, a pond, a lake, or if you are lucky enough, the ocean. The colors are watery fantastic, and it is extremely transparent (see the pictures below). This blank would be perfect for Diamond Painting pens. Or great for those of you willing to paint the interior of the blank for it to be used if there is a tube or any internal mechanisms showing. We highly recommend this painting if you don’t want those tubes or internal mechanisms showing as the blank is truly transparent.
Watery Depths is made with clear Alumilite resin to start and then Green, Blue, and Purple are added with the wonderful Aluminum Honeycomb. There is also some sparkle in the form of glitter in each blank.
The vendor uses easy to turn pigments to help turners as he is one of you. He highly recommends using a CA finish on his blanks as he has found it to be the best finish he has tried, and he now uses it exclusively on his own pens. He uses 3 coats of thin then 3 coats of medium with no sanding in between. He wet sands with Zona paper then polishes with Turtle Wax.
